electronics, most commonly for computer equipment. When considering the
options, be sure to compare the fees and services offered.
Apple

Apple offers free computer take-back and recycling with the purchase of a new
Macintosh system. US
customers who buy a new Mac through the on-line Apple Store (www.apple.com) or Apple's
retail stores will receive free shipping and environmentally friendly disposal
of their old computer as part of the Apple Recycling Program. Equipment
received by the program in the US
is recycled domestically and no hazardous material is shipped overseas.
Recycling is also available for Apple customers not purchasing a new system

Take any used iPod, iPod Mini or iPod Photo to any Apple store for free
recycling. You'll get a 10% discount on the purchase of a new iPod that same

Canon offers the Consumer Product Recycling Program to recycle certain Canon
products for a fee. You must provide the Canon model name and product serial
number to place the order. Order your pre-paid UPS shipping label, package your
product for return, and affix the pre-paid UPS label to the box. Take the box
to a UPS drop-off facility. Your product will be recycled through a licensed
recycling facility in an environmentally sound manner.
Dell

Dell offers free recycling for all Dell electronic products. The
no-strings-attached program does not require customers to buy a new Dell
product in order to recycle an old one. Dell will pick up any of its branded
electronics, such as computers and printers, at no charge from customers´
homes. Those wanting to recycle their Dell product can go online at www.dell4me.com/recycling, enter a product identification
number, print out a prepaid shipping label and schedule home pickup.
Dell also offers the opportunity to donate your old computer system to the
National Cristina Foundation, a non-profit organization that places used
technology with local non-profit organizations and public agencies that serve
disabled and economically disadvantaged children and adults across America. Visit

Epson offers recycling for EPSON brand computer equipment or peripherals for a
fee. You order the service, receive a pre-paid FedEx shipping label, pack your
product for return, affix the label to the box and take the box to a FedEx
drop-off facility. You'll also receive a coupon good for your next purchase at
the Epson Store.

Fujitsu offers recycling for any Notebook or Tablet computer that is sold by Fujitsu Computer Systems Corp. You are asked to login to the recycling program online, print a shipping label, and take the package to the nearest UPS store. The UPS store will package the computer fro transit to the recycling
center. Once you login online, you are also free to notify the recycling center with a request that a shipping package be mailed to you. The package will have instructions for opening the package, inserting the product safely, sealing the package with the adhesive tape provided, and attaching the return-shipping
label on the exterior of the container. There is no charge to you. The recycling center erases all data on storages devices.

trade-in program. First, Gateway provides you with a trade-in quote. Then you
print a pre-paid shipping label, package your item, and drop it off at any UPS
shipping location. Gateway also offers information about other recycling

Hewlett Packard (HP) Planet PartnersTM program www.hp.com/go/recycle
HP offers end-of-product life return programs for HP and other manufacturers'
hardware. Consumers are charged a fee for each item recycled. HP's automated,
on-line service calculates your final cost, payable by credit card. The web
site offers instructions for packing and pickup service.
For a limited time, HP awards up to $50 when you recycle your consumer computer
hardware through HP's recycling service and then purchase a new hardware

HP also offers free recycling of used HP inkjet and LaserJet cartridges.
Postage-paid shipping materials and instruction are available on the HP web site.
IBM PC Recycling Services 1-888-SHOP-IBM | Online Recycle Program
Through the IBM PC Recycling Service, consumers and small businesses can
recycle any manufacturer's PCs, including system units, monitors, printers and
optional attachments for a fee. Customers may purchase the PC Recycling Service
when buying any new IBM PC system at www.ibm.com/shop, or purchase the service separately by

Intel provides recycling services for any Intel branded product sold to
individual consumers, such as Intel boxed processors, Intel boxed motherboards
and Intel brand network cards. Historical items such as Intel brand PC cameras,
Intel brand PC microscopes, Intel brand keyboards, etc. are also appropriate
for returning to Intel for proper recycling. Consumers are responsible for
correctly selecting, packaging, addressing, and shipping the Intel products
returned for recycling. Intel Corporation will ensure returned products are
properly recycled.
Lexmark

Lexmark offers a free collection program for all Lexmark printers and printing
cartridges. Through the Equipment Collection Program, customers may return any
end-of-life Lexmark branded products, and Lexmark will recycle the equipment
for free. The consumer is responsible for all shipping costs. The Cartridge
Collection Program accepts spent Lexmark inkjet and toner printing cartridges.

LG

Consumers can return up to five LG, Zenith or Goldstar branded televisions, monitors or other unwanted electronics to any one of 160 WM Recycle America drop-off points around the country, free-of-charge. Electronics from other manufacturers will be accepted for a fee at participating locations. Mobile phones, GPS units and personal digital assistants will not be accepted by the program, however these items are accepted for recycling by LG's separate electronics recycling program.
