Summertime is fishing time in Minnesota.

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency is sponsoring summertime lead fishing tackle exchanges. The exchanges provide anglers a chance to try out non-toxic jigs and weights made by Minnesota companies.

Residents can bring in their old lead tackle and swap it out for jigs or weights made of bismuth, tin, tungsten or steel. This will help prevent lead poisoning of loons, eagles, and other wildlife.

There are several exchange events held throughout the Twin Cities metro area. See the list below.
