HNIA created a waste reduction booth at their neighborhood farmer's market. The booth operated each Saturday all summer. Shoppers were encouraged to take a "waste reduction quiz" and sign a "pledge" to reduce waste. For taking the quiz, they received a free shopping canvas bag advertising the market. The pledges were used to collect names and addresses to follow up with residents and offer waste reduction workshops in the fall. They also distributed a press release and placed ads in the neighborhood newspaper.
