Cedar Park Elementary School - an entire school year focuses on waste reduction
What did they do?
This K-5 elementary school in Apple Valley chose an all-school theme of waste reduction for the year. Activities include: fieldtrip to a landfill and Eco-site; painting a school mural with recycled paint; learning about worm composting; all kids getting their parents to complete reduce junk mail postcards and use cloth shopping bags; finding alternatives to disposable products like paper towels; a visit to the school by the Green Guardian; kids writing a waste reduction handbook for families (in English and Spanish); presenting a Waste Awareness Evening for parents; and presenting a Waste Reduction Science Fair in the community.
